Sometimes — and more often than he’d like — the classes that Brian Pollock teaches on avalanche awareness turn into group therapy sessions. Pollock, the director of education for the non-profit Friends of Berthoud Pass, teaches winter sports enthusiasts, mostly backcountry skiers, how to avoid avalanches. Some come because they want to try backcountry skiing and have heard that avalanche training is a good idea.

The Nuggets took a seven-point lead with 6:40 left in the quarter, as Minnesota — the best defensive team in the NBA — saw its hopes for a Game 5 slowly fading away. “I just laugh.

The NFL is set to announce its entire schedule at 6 p.m. Wednesday and the Broncos will be putting a limited number of single-game tickets up for sale shortly thereafter via Ticketmaster. Denver is making full-price tickets, starting at $37 and limited to four per household, available, the club said in a Tuesday news release.
