“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert last night devoted a solid chunk of airtime to Ted Cruz’s Wednesday announcement that Carly Fiorina would be his running mate. “That is bold,” Colbert said of Cruz’s decision to name a vice presidential running mate nearly three months prior to the Republican National Convention, when such an announcement is traditionally made — by the party’s nominee, which even in a contested convention, likely won’t be Cruz. “Ted Cruz has some serious huevos rancheros to announce a Vice President at this stage,” Colbert continued.
