ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A Pakistani army major, allegedly recruited by U.S. intelligence to spy on Osama bin Laden’s Abbottabad compound before the commando raid that killed the al-Qaeda leader, has been arrested, according to U.S. and Pakistani officials. Neighbors in Abbottabad said that Maj. Amir Aziz, a doctor in the Pakistan Army Medical Corps who has lived in a residence adjacent to the bin Laden compound for several years, has not been seen since shortly after the May 2 U.S.
