Baker's Budget Vetoes To Go Before Lawmakers

BOSTON — Massachusetts is operating under a new $38.1 billion budget, but the fate of several line items that were vetoed by Gov. Charlie Baker still hangs in the balance.The House and Senate are both meeting on Wednesday and could take override votes on at least some of the $162 million in spending vetoed by the Republican governor.The cuts made by Baker included $38 million in funds earmarked for specific legislative districts.Several advocacy groups are pressuring Democratic leaders to override the vetoes before the August legislative recess.
