PHOENIX (AP) — A 12-year-old boy is in a coma after he fell from a ride at a Phoenix amusement park. Phoenix police say the incident happened Friday afternoon at Castles N' Coasters on a water log boat ride. Police spokesman James Holmes said Sunday the boy climbed out of the ride on his own for an unknown reason and his foot got caught. Holmes says the boy was dragged and then fell 30 feet into the water. Family members say the boy underwent emergency brain surgery and is in a medically-induced coma. They say the ride operator ignored the boy's pleas before the drop that he was sliding out of the boat. Park officials say they are "devastated" by the accident but that the boy failed to follow safety rules.Read more on NewsOK.com
