The Martian Kate Mara ("House of Cards," "Fantastic Four") has been offered a role in Ridley Scott's sci-fi epic "The Martian" for 20th Century Fox. Drew Goddard adapted Andy Weir's book with Matt Damon set to play a NASA astronaut left stranded on Mars after his crewmates are forced to evacuate due to a dust storm. He fights for survival, trying to rustle up water and grow crops.
