Makai Anderson a three 3-pointers in the second quarter on his way to scoring a game-high 20 points to lead the Thunder.
Zyell Griffin had 14 to pace Evergreen.

Boys basketball: R.A. Long 55, Woodland 50

Isaiah Flanagan hit a 3-pointer with two seconds left in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but the Lumberjacks came away with the win.
Isaiah Hall hit a 3-pointer in overtime to tie the game 50-50, but R.A. Long responded with its own 3-pointer then sealed the game with two free throws.
Tyler Flanagan had 14 points to lead Woodland.

Girls basketball: Camas 59, Heritage 34

Haley Hanson scored 19 points to lead Camas past Heritage.
The win inches the Papermakers, who are tied for first in the 4A Greater St. Helens League, one step closer to what is shaping up to be a tight finish to the regular season.
The Papermakers held a seven point lead at half, then started the third quarter with a 6-0 run and never looked back.
“We started out really strong,” Heritage coach Jacob Kaler said. “We were hanging in.”

After a just a day’s rest, the Prairie girls basketball team appreciated its depth.

 

Boys basketball: Union 72, Battle Ground 67

Tanner Toolson scored 19 points as the host Titans held on for a 4A Greater St. Helens League win and remained undefeated.
Union (18-0, 6-0) led 52-38 after three quarters. But Battle Ground (8-6, 2-3) rallied behind 6-foot-9 post Kaden Perry, who scored 11 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers pulled within 69-67 on a long 3-pointer by Vincent McCormic, who had 14 points.
Union sealed the victory with two free throws by Ethan Smith, which gave Union a 71-67 lead with 13 seconds to play.

 

U.S. service member killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military says an American service member has been killed by enemy fire in Afghanistan.
A military statement says the incident is under investigation, and details were not released. The statement issued Tuesday did not name the service member or the branch of the military, pending notification of the family.
