Donald Trump's shoutout to the "late great Hannibal Lecter" is weird on many levels. Since he is still alive, Trump couldn't have meant the actor Anthony Hopkins. And then there's the character, a vicious serial killer who ate his prey. As far as I remember, he didn't die in the films.
A federal judge in Texas (naturally!) blocked a plan by the Biden administration to lower late fees on credit cards to $8 that was slated to go into effect next week. Via ABC News:
The temporary nationwide injunction imposed by Judge Mark Pittman in the Northern District of Texas is a win for the big banks and major credit card companies, which collect billions in revenue each year in late fees and were looking to stop the proposal from going into effect.
A ProPublica and New York Times investigation found that a lengthy IRS audit concluded Donald Trump took the same huge deduction twice. As one of their tax experts put it, “I think he ripped off the tax system.”
