Two comedians to blame for making 'Trip to Italy' dull

For those just getting onboard, "The Trip" was a film from a few years back that followed British comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon on a culinary tour of England. The chief culprit in this is Brydon, who was only mildly irritating in "The Trip," but now, perhaps encouraged by the positive response to the first film, is uncontainable. In addition to Caine, he carts out imitations of Al Pacino (ghastly), Christian Bale (forget it), Richard Burton (sounds like Anthony Hopkins) and Hugh Grant (the worst). The Italian vistas are spectacular, from Piedmont to Ravello, but to hear these guys talking, it all feels wasted on them. Or perhaps it's just the footage that's wasted.
