The bloody World War II drama, which stars Brad Pitt as tank commander Wardaddy, collected $23.7 million in its opening weekend. Ben Affleck plays a man whose wife goes missing in "Gone Girl," which continued to draw audiences in its third week of release. "The Book of Life," animated family film awash in imagery from Day of the Dead, opened in third place with $17 million, while the Nicholas Sparks romance "The Best of Me" claimed fifth place.
