Walnuts May Help Protect Against Alzheimer's, Study Finds

For those looking to combat Alzheimer's, a new animal study is shedding light on a snack that may reduce the risk and even help prevent the disease: walnuts. Researchers led by Dr. Abha Chauhan at the New York State Institute for Basic Research in Developmental Disabilities found significant improvement in learning skills, memory, reducing anxiety, and motor development in mice fed a walnut-enriched diet. Chauhan said the findings help lay the groundwork for future human studies on walnuts and Alzheimer's disease, for which there is no known cure.
