President of Edmond cheer booster club accused of embezzling thousands

FROM STAFF REPORTSEDMOND — The president of Edmond Santa Fe High School’s cheerleading booster club is accused of embezzling thousands of dollars to pay for a hotel room, athletic training and other personal items, court records show. Edmond police filed documents in Oklahoma County District Court on Thursday accusing Stacey Torre, 38, of embezzling more than $7,000 from a bank account for the Santa Fe Cheer Booster Club. Investigation into the club’s finances began in July when the club applied to be sanctioned by Edmond Public Schools for the 2014-15 year. “District personnel noticed suspicious activity in its financial reporting inconsistent with typical booster club operations,” school district spokeswoman Susan Parks-Schlepp said in an email. Police said Torre refused to provide the school with bank statements when asked and became argumentative and refused to cooperate. Edmond police obtained a search warrant and went through financial statements of the booster club’s bank account.Read more on NewsOK.com
