Justin Lin to Direct Star Trek 3

A new director has been found for Star Trek 3 and it’s Justin Lin. Lin, who’s had huge success directing several Fast and the Furious films to increasingly strong box office numbers (he directed the third, fourth, fifth and sixth films in that series), will take over Trek 3 following the departure of Roberto Orci from the director’s chair. Deadline broke the news on Lin's Star Trek hiring, noting it was possible because he had an opening in his schedule after the Bourne Legacy sequel he was set to make with Jeremy Renner got put on the back burner, after Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon agreed to return to do a new Bourne film together.
