OMRF lab lures students from the beach

From Staff ReportsSome Oklahoma students would rather spend their days in the lab than at the beach. The students makes up the 60th group of the Fleming Scholars, a program offered by the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation that allows high school and college students to work alongside professionals in research laboratories. The program is named in honor of the British scientist who discovered penicillin, Sir Alexander Fleming, who came to the state in the 1940s to dedicate the foundation’s first building. Budding researchers Among the scholars chosen this year were Savannah Martin, of Duncan; Krishna Manohar, of Tulsa; and Michael Thellmann, of Edmond. Martin, a recent graduate of Duncan High School, will attend Oklahoma State University in the fall to study cellular molecular biology and microbiology.Read more on NewsOK.com
