By Kay Hunt For The OklahomanMidwest City moves forward with Original Mile plan MIDWEST CITY — The City Council recently approved an agenda item that will allow the Community Development Department and the Original Mile Reinvestment Committee to move forward with plans for the area's redevelopment efforts. Since the consulting firm Ochsner, Hare & Hare created a revitalization plan in 2011 for the Original Mile, numerous steps have been taken to begin to fulfill goals outlined in the plan. The city in January formed an Original Mile Reinvestment Committee to help give guidance and input for further development of the area. The Community Development Department, on behalf of the committee, presented the City Council with several strategies it believes will encourage investment and redevelopment. Strategies include: •Publicizing a request for proposals for design of a $70,000 urban park at Mid-America Boulevard and Lockheed Drive around the clock tower area, north of the Town Center Plaza. •Developing infill housing on city-owned lots.Read more on NewsOK.com
