Best Bet: A splash of aquatic “life” at the Denver Zoo

The latest traveling exhibit at the Denver Zoo, “Washed Ashore,” opened last weekend in its first trip to an inland location, bringing 15 large-scale sculptures of sea creatures made from debris collected on beaches. The theme is to protect and recycle, particularly since our oceans remain vulnerable to climate change. The Zoo no doubt also hopes the exhibit will help draw visitors during its slower fall and winter months, when a few of its 4,300 animals aren’t quite as visible. “Washed Ashore,” which includes everything from sea turtles to tiger sharks made from flip-flops and toy truck tires, runs through Jan.
