Denver Zoo tigers open wide for teeth cleaning before they head to new exhibit

We all do it. I do it. You do it. Your grandmother does it. Even tigers do it. We all go to the dentist. But some folks — *cough cough* we’re looking at you Amur tiger brothers Nikolai and Thimbu (pronounced TIM-boo) — are lucky enough to sleep through the alarming squeaking sound as a dentist attacks plaque. The Denver Zoo’s 6-year-old tigers got their teeth cleaned during a full physical workup — including exams of their eyes, ears, joints and coats — ahead of their transfer to The Edge, the zoo’s new outdoor space for felines that opens to the public March 17.
