Giants (worst in NL) lose another player, ballgame

The Giants also need to get away from Rockies leadoff hitter Charlie Blackmon. Blackmon hit the inside-the-park homer Friday night that led to a mild Hunter Pence knee injury and the long drive in the second inning Saturday that ended in Span's glove as he crashed into the center-field wall. Moore has not found a way to pitch at Coors Field, where he has allowed 16 runs in 11 2/3 innings over three starts. Joe Panik hit his first homer of the season in a two-RBI day, and kudos to just-recalled Chris Stratton for pitching three shutout innings to save the bullpen. The Giants have not even started their second homestand and already they have lost Madison Bumgarner, Will Smith and Jarrett Parker long-term, Buster Posey missed nearly a week with a concussion and manager Bruce Bochy needed a heart procedure. An errant pitch in extended spring training injured his thumb and he will be lost for eight weeks. The Rockies were up 3-0 in the second inning and had a runner on with two outs when Blackmon sent a drive to straightaway center. Conor Gillaspie batted for Span in the next inning and remained to play third base. Eduardo Nuñez moved to right field, where he had played 28 1/3 career innings.
