Warm Season Planting • Ready, set, plant. It’s Memorial Day weekend. Slather on the sunscreen, don the hat and get busy with direct seeding and transplanting vegetables, annuals, perennials and summer bulbs. Don’t forget to break for iced tea. • Basil, sunflower seeds, beans, cucumbers, corn, melons, pumpkins and many annual ornamentals can be seeded directly in the ground. • Transplant peppers, eggplant, tomatillos, tomatoes and basil, plus ornamental annuals and new perennials.
