Despite garnering an overwhelmingly negative reception from critics, The Hitman's Bodyguard exceeded expectations, placing first in its domestic debut at the box office this weekend. The Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson-led action-comedy from director Patrick Hughes earned an estimated $21.6 million in its opening weekend, already making back a significant portion of its production budget of approximately $30 million. This weekend also brought with it the release of Logan Lucky, which underwhelmed with a third place debut.
