I inherited one of my biggest social weaknesses from my dad. It’s a tick that causes me to look away whenever subjects are speaking publicly in a way that I find embarrassing. Sometimes, I’ll go so far as to distract myself rather than feeling the discomfort of someone else’s awkwardness. Last week, at a media preview of the French restaurant Le Bilboquet, which opened in Cherry Creek North on Friday, I found myself awkwardly averting and distracting far more than usual. The pangs were so prevalent that it feels remiss to merely report that there is a new French restaurant in Denver, with a big dining room dressed in white tablecloths and orchids as centerpieces.
