By Darla SlipkeStaff writerdslipke@oklahoman.comA coalition of criminal justice reform supporters filed an initiative petition Tuesday seeking to end the use of certain sentence enhancements for nonviolent offenses.The initiative also would allow people currently serving time for nonviolent crimes who were sentenced with a sentence enhancement to petition a court to have their sentence shortened.A bipartisan group called Oklahomans for Sentencing Reform, which includes business and faith leaders, reform advocates and people who have been impacted by the criminal justice system, filed a constitutional ballot initiative with the Oklahoma Secretary of State's Office.To get the issue on the ballot in 2020, they will need to collect nearly 178,000 valid signatures within a 90-day window.Read more on NewsOK.com
