Cherri Trusheim and her team of 80 veterinarians, technicians and office staff gathered for breakfast and a routine all-staff meeting at a private event space six blocks from her Capitol Hill veterinary clinic. It was 7:50 a.m. on March 5. By the end of the day, 70 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 and 11 people had died from it in Washington. It was around this time that Covid-19 landed on Trusheim’s radar.
