Following its eagerly anticipated Cannes premiere, the first reviews for Kinds of Kindness, the second partnership between director Yorgos Lanthimos, and Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, and Margaret Qualley in a year, have dropped online. The new film, which jumps from the steampunk, sci-fi setting of Poor Things to the hyper-sexualised and hyper-stylized modern day, is a triptych narrative, following three interwoven stories.
The filmmaker and star tells IndieWire he's spent $100 million of his own money (so far) to shoot two of his four stories of the Western frontier — to their conclusion, whenever that is, and however much it will cost.
