Copper Wire Theft Costs Company More Than $1m

Potter County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking information on a copper-wire theft at a sand and gravel plant that cost a company more than $1 million. On Tuesday, employees arriving at Texas Sand & Gravel Co. pits north of Amarillo on U.S. Highway 287 discovered the theft. Wire was cut from machinery, rendering the entire plant inoperable, a news release from Sheriff Brian Thomas said. Anyone with information on the theft can contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400, the sheriff’s office at 806-379-2900 or the sheriff’s office tip line at 806-379-2955.
