Copper wire theft costs company more than $1M

Potter County Sheriff’s deputies are seeking information on a copper-wire theft at a sand and gravel plant that cost a company more than $1 million. On Tuesday, employees arriving at Texas Sand & Gravel Co. pits north of Amarillo on U.S. Highway 287 discovered the theft. Wire was cut from machinery, rendering the entire plant inoperable, a news release from Sheriff Brian Thomas said.
