Aging at Home program celebrates fifth anniversary of helping seniors stay in their own homes

RIDLEY Township >> The mood was festive Nov. 2 as dozens of seniors, volunteers, staff and local officials gathered at Schoolhouse Center in Folsom for a cocktail party to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Senior Community Service's (SCS) Aging at Home program.The program's mission is to improve the health and well-being of seniors by providing support for older adults who wish to stay in their own homes.

Springfield firefighters come to aid of family in need

SPRINGFIELD >> Firefighters sign up to help others, and sometimes that help continues after they clear the scene of an incident because "that's what it's about."Springfield firefighters responded to about a dozen vehicle accidents last week, and one stuck out to the members. When the crew returned to the station from a two-vehicle accident with injuries, many of them said to each other that they wished they could help out the family involved because of their situation.

People from Delaware County and across the country woke up on Wednesday morning and said, "What just happened?" It was much the same reaction that people had a year ago, but in a weird "opposite day" kind of way.I would suggest that the wave which swept through elections big and small this week was not an endorsement of the Democratic Party.

This is DeBella's 16th year at WMGK collecting frozen turkeys, cash, checks and "free turkey" supermarket coupons through the annual drive that always is held on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Chesco Dems mourn 'hero among activists' killed in fiery Route 202 crash

West Goshen >> Adam Harrison Swope, 38, of Malvern, chair of the Willistown-Malvern Democrats and executive assistant to Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone , died in a fiery accident on Route 202 Saturday afternoon.West Goshen Police reported that Swope was killed when his vehicle, traveling south on Route 202, was struck by a northbound tractor-trailer hauling frozen turkeys.
