Crowd Cheers As Women Marry In Downtown Outdoor Ceremony

The minister wore a rainbow-striped stole as she stood in a park across from the Franklin County Government Center Downtown. In front of her, two women, one holding a cluster of white roses, exchanged wedding vows. And when the Rev. Celestine Slater-Brooks, a United Church of Christ minister, said she had married them through power granted by “the state of Ohio,” cheers erupted from the watching crowd.
