Just weeks after this year’s March for Science, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) administrator Scott Pruitt is taking a shot at science — “secret science,” in his words. Pruitt recently proposed a rule that would limit the kinds of research the agency could draw on in crafting regulations. Reuters described the move as “an apparent concession to big business” which has angled for the restrictions for a long time. Pruitt’s proposal would mean the EPA wouldn’t be able to use scientific research based on confidential data.
