By Paula Burkes Business Writer pburkes@oklahoman.comNot quite two months into his annual term as president of the Oklahoma State Association of Health Underwriters, Wayne Pettigrew and the association already are celebrating a win for small employers. Starting next year, Oklahoma businesses that employ 99 or fewer will have premium rating options on group health insurance, thanks to a waiver the state Insurance Department secured from the federal government this month. The waiver allows state insurers to offer those employers the choice between composite premium ratings, which large companies already use, or individual premium ratings. “This is a huge development for groups of 50 to 99 employees who, with their 2016 renewals, were to be moved to the individual ratings methodology required of groups 49 and smaller,” said Pettigrew, who lobbied with the underwriters group for the option.Read more on NewsOK.com
