Dunsmuir is steeped in railroad history but also a place to fish and enjoy the Sacramento River. Jerry Rainock of Redding makes his way to the river to fish for trout on Sept. 8 in Dunsmuir. Locals describe that portion of the Sacramento River as the “cleanest water on earth.” Mossbrae Falls, a 50-foot-high, 100-foot-wide series of small cascades that tumble into the Sacramento River outside Dunsmuir, are accessible by foot – but not legally so.
