Lady Indians Rough Up Big 7 Rival Vikings

KINGSPORT — Dobyns-Bennett’s Mike Sweeney had no doubts the one run scored by the Lady Indians in the first would stand with Morgan Riffle in the circle. But he’s glad it didn’t have to. The D-B sticks came alive late and the Lady Indians (7-7, 3-0) rolled to a 9-0 Big 7 Conference softball victory over Tennessee High (6-6, 0-3) on Monday afternoon at Indian Highland Park. Riffle provided that one-run lead when she doubled home McCoy Hensley, who was hit by a pitch leading off for the Lady Indians. Tennessee High put the leadoff batter on base in each of the first four innings but never advanced a runner to third.
