It’ll be an NBA Game 7 doubleheader to finish the weekend. The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves will meet for their winner-take-all series finale Sunday at 6 p.m. MT, the league announced Friday night. The game at Ball Arena in downtown Denver will be broadcast on TNT and available for streaming on Max. The start time was dependent on the result of Game 6 between the Knicks and Pacers.

LAKEWOOD — If recent history is any indication, Cherokee Trail locked up the Class 5A boys team title by winning the 800-meter relay in historic fashion on Friday afternoon at Jeffco Stadium. The school that wins that event has captured the last five 5A team crowns and eight of the last 10.

It hasn’t been a great week for certainty about the future of the Avalanche roster. The Avs already had one key player — captain Gabe Landeskog — whose future contributions remain in question due to a long-term injury. But Valeri Nichushkin’s suspension and mandated return to the NHL-NHLPA Player Assistance Program has left Colorado with two of its highest-paid players as significant question marks for the 2024-25 season and beyond. One position on the roster where the Avs have significantly fewer questions than they did at the start of this season is the most important one.

DALLAS — If anyone turned off the television midway through Game 4 and avoided the events of last night, they’d likely assume the Colorado Avalanche’s season was over.
