New Series Chronicles California County With Highest Per Capita Police Killings In U.s.

Kern County, California, has a population of just under 900,000, accounting for 2.3 percent of California’s population. However, it is responsible for 7 percent of all officer-involved killings in California and represents the highest number of per capita killings in the country. A new report from the Guardian details just what’s happening in Kern County: In all, 13 people have been killed so far this year by law enforcement officers in Kern County, which has a population of just under 875,000.
