The Painesville City Fire Department rescued a man stranded on an ice floe in the Grand River Nov. 22. The department, along with help from the Fairport Harbor and Painesville Township Fire Departments rescued the man at about 1 p.m. Nov. 22. According to the Painesville City Fire Department Facebook page, the man had waded out to fish near Main Street in Painesville and underestimated the river rise and current and overestimated the strength of the ice.
