WASHINGTON — Senators on Tuesday unanimously approved a proposal by Sen. Tom Coburn requiring the Senate to make a public report each time it waives a new budget law.Coburn’s amendment, made to a bill extending unemployment benefits and some tax breaks, passed by a vote of 100-0, but Coburn said it probably wouldn’t survive.After the vote, he said, senators signaled their intent to remove this amendment before it goes to the president.The amendment directs the Senate to post on its Web site all violations of the so-called PAYGO law, which requires new spending to be offset by new revenue or cuts elsewhere in the budget.Read more on NewsOK.com
