Sexual Affair With Client’s Wife Costs Lawyer His License

Columbus lawyer James D. Owen helped his client avoid execution but crossed an ethical line by having a sexual affair with the man’s wife before, during and after the trial. As a result of Owen’s affair, his client, Robert Caulley, was granted the right to a new trial — 16 years after the first — and was freed from prison earlier this year in the beating deaths of his parents.
