Sharks Fall To Predators In 3 Ots

Fisher’s rebound goal at 11:12 of the third overtime gave Nashville a 4-3 win over the Sharks in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals, tying the best-of-seven series 2-2. Pavelski appeared to score at 7:34 of the first overtime, but the goal was waved off because of goaltender interference after he crashed into Pekka Rinne. On Fisher’s winner, Sharks goalie Martin Jones stopped a backhander by Colin Wilson only to see the puck go to Fisher. San Jose missed a good scoring opportunity when Nashville captain Shea Weber went to the box for high sticking with 2:03 left in the second OT. The Sharks had a mad scramble in front of Rinne with piles of bodies from both teams, but couldn’t score four minutes into the first OT. [...] Rinne made an acrobatic pad save, stealing a goal from the Sharks on a breakaway six minutes into the first OT. Rinne made a lunging pad save on Thomas Hertl from a sharp angle with 1:40 left in the first OT. The Sharks were in position to win in regulation, but James Neal changed that when he scored on a rebound at 15:39 of the third period. The puck went under the crossbar after the Predators had hit iron three times earlier in the game. Brent Burns’ power-play goal had given the Sharks a 3-2 lead at 6:48 of the third as the Norris Trophy finalist scored on a one-timer behind the left face-off circle. Wilson tied a franchise playoff record by extending his points streak to five games. The Sharks then scored on their first shot, as Burns got a wrister from the far side of the right face-off circle by Rinne, tying the game at 1 at 3:08 of the first. Another rebound goal gave Nashville a 2-1 lead at 9:50 of the first as Fisher swatted the puck into an open net after gathering inNeal’s initial shot. Donskoi tied the score at 2 with a one-timer from the left face-off circle on a pass from Marc-Edouard Vlasic at 14:09 of the second period. Donskoi redeemed himself for a costly double minor high-sticking penalty Tuesday that led to Neal’s momentum-changing goal in San Jose’s 4-1 loss in Game 3.
