Adichie focuses on Nigeria's present for new novel

Modern life in Lagos, Nigeria's largest city, has become almost a character itself in novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's new book, "Americanah." Within its pages, one catches self-acknowledged glimpses of the writer herself, who shot to fame with her previous novel, a love story set during Nigeria's civil war entitled "Half of a Yellow Sun."

An aviation official says that all passengers on board the plane that crashed in Nigeria's largest city have been killed. Nigeria's Civil Aviation Authority Harold Denuren confirmed that all the passengers on Sunday's Dana Air flight died. He did not say how many were on the flight. However, the Lagos state government said in a statement that 153 people were on the flight going from Abuja to Lagos.

 

Nigeria says plane suspect was properly screened

A Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a U.S.-bound airplane on Christmas Day had been properly screened by airport authorities before boarding a flight in Lagos, the Attorney General said on Thursday.
