Tesla announced this month that it's planning to build an electric car for the mass consumer. The Model 3 will arrive in 2017, following the much-anticipated Model X crossover, which is due to hit the streets next year. The $35,000 Model 3 will be the cheapest vehicle yet to emerge from Tesla's Fremont, Calif.
