President Donald Trump landed in Alabama on Friday evening to hold a rally for Sen. Luther Strange, who is locked in a tight race with former state Chief Justice Roy Moore for the state’s Republican Senate primary nomination.Since announcing his support for Strange earlier this month, the president has repeatedly used social media to vouch for his credentials.Trump touted on Twitter earlier Friday that senator had “gained mightily since my endorsement,” while cautioning that, even so, the race would be “very close.”Trump’s Friday night appearance in Huntsville followed weeks of pleas from senior Republicans — including Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell — for the president to campaign for Strange.
