Use Of Meth-ingredient Tracer At New Low In W.va.

By Eric Eyre The number of times West Virginia law enforcement officers have logged into a system that tracks purchases of cold pills that fuel methamphetamine labs has dropped to the lowest level ever.Last month, officers tapped the meth ingredient tracker 275 times - the fewest logins since all West Virginia pharmacies started reporting sales of pseudoephedrine, a key meth-making ingredient, to the tracking system in January 2013.In recent months, retail and drug industry lobbyists have credited the National Precursor Log Exchange, or NPLEx, for West Virginia's sharp decline in pseudoephedrine sales and meth lab seizures.
