Utah Lake has reopened — with restrictions — after a toxic algal bloom poisoned the water about two weeks ago. The algal bloom, which spread to other waterways including the Jordan River and other tributaries, was dissipating, according to a news release Thursday from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality. Officials continued to warn patrons against swimming and other activities during which they would have contact with the lake water, but the agency downgraded the closure to a warning.
