Viz Media has formally apologized for what it says was a translation error in the limited edition Season 5, Set 1 release of Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, the long-awaited dub of the series’ final season. According to Viz Media, the mistranslation implied the characters Sailor Neptune and Sailor Uranus, who are canonically gay and in a relationship with one another, were not. Rather than a mistranslation in one of the show’s episodes, the error was actually in the romaji (or romanized translation of Japanese) lyrics in a booklet packaged with the limited edition home video release of Sailor Moon Season 5, Set 1 on Blu-ray and DVD.
