There are three contenders: the John Hughes 80s, the goofy 90s, and the Mean Girls/Easy As for the 00s. For me, it's easy - the 90s. American Pie, She's All That, 10 Things I Hate About You. These, alone, destroy any John Hughes movie, or John Hughes-inspired movie (Easy A) or the excellent Mean Girls.
