Speed limits on the Maine Turnpike have been lowered to 45 mph Monday as a winter storm moved into southern Maine bringing blowing snow and causing coastal flooding. The storm moved into southernmost Maine before noon and is gradually moving north up the coast, eventually heading into Canadian Maritimes, according to the National Weather Service. The storm is expected to drop five to six inches of snow right on the coast and four to six over most of the rest of the state, said Stacie Hanes, of the National Weather Service in Gray.
