How much taxpayer money the Hinds County Board of Supervisors must spend to keep their cases from going to trial remains undisclosed.

BOSTON — A rare 1943 bronze Lincoln penny has sold for more than $200,000 at a Florida auction.
Heritage Auctions says more than 30 people bid on the rare coin Thursday night. Only 10 to 15 of these pennies, mistakenly minted in bronze instead of steel, are believed to exist. They were made at a time when bronze and copper were being saved to fill metal shortages during World War II.

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — Gaza’s Health Ministry says Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian woman as thousands demonstrated along the territory’s perimeter fence.
Spokesman Ashraf al-Kidra says the woman was shot in the head Friday at a protest site east of Gaza City. She has not yet been identified. Al-Kidra says 25 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli gunfire.

LITHONIA, Ga. — A video shows two Waffle House employees putting salt, a slice of cheese and ketchup on an unconscious man’s head and now the company says the workers at the Atlanta area location have been fired.
News outlets report the video on Instagram also shows the employees playing with the man like a puppet while he was passed-out. They’re seen moving his head and body while he slumped at a counter seat in the Lithonia eatery last week.

ST. LOUIS — A prosecutor said Friday that he won’t seek the death penalty against a man accused of killing a woman and sexually assaulting two others inside a suburban St. Louis religious supplies store.
Wesley Bell, who took over as St. Louis County prosecutor this month, told The Associated Press in a statement that although he won’t seek capital punishment for Thomas Bruce in the Nov. 19 attack, he will work to ensure that the one-time minister spends the rest of his days behind bars.
