Public libraries have always offered the best value in books, given their free memberships and vast collections. But they’re also a growing destination for ebooks, digital music and streaming movies, which have increasingly replaced physical collections amid tight budgets and shrinking shelf space. Enter Kanopy. The Denver Public Library system welcomed the streaming video-on-demand service (SVOD) on June 11, instantly adding about 30,000 digital titles to its massive video catalog. The service is already used by more than 5 million people — in partnership with 4,000 libraries around the world — but it’s only in the past year that Kanopy has been available at U.S.
