A few dozen teens from Spain wandered Woodstock over the past few weeks doing what their American counterparts do in September – Friday night football, picking apples at an orchard or making s’mores at a bonfire. Two separate groups of Spanish students – 14 from Madrid, participating in an exchange at Woodstock High School, and 20 middle school students from Teruel, Spain – were hosted by Woodstock Community Unit School District 200 families who have students in the District’s dual language program. There were backyard gatherings, bowling outings, visits to the McHenry Outdoor Cinema to see that quintessential American film “The Sandlot.” Students from both age groups also took organized trips to Chicago and Lake Geneva. “It was a very busy two and a half weeks.
