Production on Marvel Studios' The Avengers has been shut down after the theft of Samuel L. Jackson's copy of the Joss Whedon script.The script, which is watermarked with Jackson's name, is being shopped to various media sites along with photographs verifying its authenticity.

Disney announced today that it is buying distribution rights to The Avengers and Iron Man 3 from Paramount for $115 million. Paramount will reportedly still earn the 8% and 9% fees it would have received from distributing the films but it won’t have to put in any advertising money or muscle.

Speaking with Britain's SFX magazine recently, Kevin Feige, the president of production at Marvel Studios, spilled some details on the upcoming Avengers flick, including hints at who will be protecting the planet from peril. Marvel Entertainment reported its First Quarter earnings today and gave a few updates on its upcoming movies during the company's quarterly conference call.

The superheroes will take just a little longer to arrive on the scene. Marvel Entertainment announced Thursday morning it was pushing back by a year a pair of key properties in its comic-book franchises, "Thor" and "Avengers."
